Description

Sandy soils, which are high in sand and low in clay, are fast-draining and easy to warm up with fertilizer, but they dry out fast, lack plant nutrients, and tend to be acidic. Sandy soil feels gritty—you can feel sand grains in it, and it runs through your fingers. It can't be rolled into a sausage shape. If it's not coarse sand and perhaps a sandy loam, it may hold together better.
