Care Instructions

Plant Care:

Light:

  • Bright Sunlight: Place the cactus in a location that receives plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. While many cacti are known for their love of full sun, some species may appreciate a bit of protection from intense afternoon sunlight, especially in extremely hot climates.
  • Indoor Placement: If kept indoors, provide the cactus with as much natural light as possible. A sunny window or a location near a south-facing window is ideal.

Watering:

  • Infrequent Watering: Cacti, including the Dry Flower variety, prefer infrequent but deep watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. The frequency will depend on factors such as temperature, humidity, and the specific cactus species.
  • Watering Technique: When you water, do so thoroughly, allowing water to soak through the soil. Ensure that excess water drains away freely, and never let the cactus sit in water for an extended period, as this can lead to root rot.
  • Reduce Watering in Winter: During the dormant period in winter, reduce watering frequency. Cacti generally require less water when they are not actively growing.
  • Watering Signs: Observe the cactus for signs of water stress, such as slight shriveling. This can be a natural response, and you can adjust your watering schedule accordingly.

Fertilization:

  • Low-Nutrient Needs: Cacti have relatively low nutrient requirements. Fertilize sparingly, typically during the growing season in spring and summer. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer formulated for cacti or succulents is suitable.

The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic; they provided great tips on plant care and even offered suggestions for complementary plants.
